Introduction to The Teenage Parents Project
What we do?
The Hartcliffe and Withywood Teenage Parents Project provides practical, emotional, and mentoring support for Teenage Parents raising awareness and aspirations through education.
Who we work with?
We work with teenage parents aged between 16 and 25.
We work with children of teenage parents aged 0-4 years of age.
We work with teenage parents and their older children during the summer holidays.
How we help?
We help through providing premises open 5 days a week, 9:00am to 4:00pm, and exceptional services specifically for teenage parents and their children. Our centre is kept clean to a high standard, and is warm, fresh and welcoming to all families.
What we offer
We offer pre-school education within our creche and have NVQ Level's 2 and 3 in Child Development Workers in place who make available a range of activities for the age and stage of the children's development. We ensure our children have a positive experience and develop new skills which are transferable when they attend mainstream nursery. The creche staff team were once members and gained qualifications through the project, bridging gap within the community and increasing provision at the project.
We offer teenage parents weekly Drop In Sessions facilitated by project workers, giving parents the opportunity to meet with others in similar situations and build support networks, breaking down isolation. Within these group settings they are encouraged to devise their own quarterly activity programme, with the aim of creating ownership. Through the attendance of Drop In Sessions, parent's confidence grow, leaving them wanting to achieve and increase their attainments.
